Chairing two panel sessions at CES conference in Boston this week

At this week’s annual conference of the Council for European Studies in Boston (MA), I’ll be chairing two sessions and presenting a paper in a panel on Agendasetting in a multi-level setting. One panel on ‘migrant policies in Europe’s system of multi-level governance’, together with Oliver Schmidtke (University of Victoria). The second on ‘multilevel democratic institutions and diverse democratic processes.’





Research cluster on Governance of Migration and Integration now complete

The research cluster on migration and integration policies of the Erasmus University Rotterdam is now complete for the upcoming year. The cluster involves various joint projects of the department of Public Administration (research group Public Policy & Politics) and the department of Sociology (CIMIC Institute), each concentrating on issues of governance in the domains of migration and migrant integration. Working on 6 long-term scientific projects, the cluster now involves a group of 8 persons from both departments.

Associate Researcher of COMPAS, Oxford University

This year I will be associate researcher of the Center on Migration, Policy and Society of the University of Oxford. I’ll be working with a.o. Dr. Sarah Spencer and Dr. Ben Gidley on our joint projects IMPACIM and AMICALL . In addition, COMPAS will be the base for the UK fieldwork of my VENI project on ‘Agenda Dynamics and the Multi-Level Governance of Migrant Integration.’

Call for papers for double special issue of the Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis on ‘Policy Analysis at Times of Crisis’. Contributions are invited that deal with the role of policy analysis and opportunities (or obstacles) for policy learning in cases on the migration crisis, the security crisis, the welfare state crisis or the financial crisis. National workshop ‘Attitudes to Migrants, Communication and Local Leadership’

This Friday the national workshop of the AMICALL project on ‘Attitudes to Migrants, Communication and Local Leadership‘ will be held in Rotterdam. Policy makers and NGO’s from various Dutch cities (Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Delft, Arnhem, Enschede and Utrecht) will be present to discuss good practices on how cities frame and communicate integration policies and how this may affect attitudes to migrants in their cities.

EUI Working Paper on Comparing Citizenship Policies
